My Approach

My approach is integrative, meaning I tailor the therapy to suit your unique needs. This involves drawing upon a number of different counselling models, whilst always putting the client-therapist relationship at the heart of what we do.

I work in a client-led way, which means our sessions are guided by what feels most important to you. You set the pace, choose the focus, and together we explore whatever arises. Rather than offering advice or ready-made solutions, my role is to support your process—helping you to connect with your own insights, inner resources, and sense of direction through meaningful self-discovery.

My core training has been person-centred, psychodynamic and relational with the addition of perspectives from Transactional Analysis (TA), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Trauma Informed Practice. Below are some of the ways these modalities may contribute to our work.

A person-centred approach helps by promoting self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal growth through the provision of a supportive and non-judgmental relational environment.

A psychodynamic approach helps by gaining insight into how your past experiences have shaped the unconscious patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that might be holding you back.

A relational approach helps by emphasizing the importance of the therapeutic relationship as a key factor in healing and personal growth.

A transactional analysis (TA) approach helps by exploring the dynamics of interpersonal communication and identifying patterns rooted in the "Parent," "Adult," and "Child" states of the personality.

A compassion-focused therapy (CFT) approach helps by addressing self-criticism and shame through the cultivation of self-compassion and kindness, leading to greater psychological well-being and improved self-esteem.

An Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach helps by guiding you to explore and understand the different “parts” of yourself, like inner critics, protectors, or wounded parts, in a way that fosters self-compassion, healing, and a stronger connection to your core Self.

A trauma-informed approach helps by understanding and responding to the impact of trauma by creating a therapeutic environment that promotes healing and avoids re-traumatisation. This approach is based on the tri-phasic recovery model developed by psychiatrist Judith Herman.
