Counselling in Chippenham, Bath, Online
About Me
I have long been deeply curious about what shapes how we show up in the world, from our evolutionary legacy as human beings through to our genetic inheritance and individual experiences in the society, culture and households in which we are raised. It is this desire to understand that lit the spark on my decision to train as a counsellor. This was a decision that also grew out of a painful experience of personal loss, further deepening my compassion for human suffering and leading me to re-evaluate my sense of meaning and purpose in life.
Prior to retraining, I spent the bulk of my professional life teaching and managing in international educational contexts, which included 10 years of living and working abroad. This experience exposed me to people from a wide variety of cultures and walks of life, enabling me to appreciate both the diversity and the commonality of human experience. I began my career working in corporate settings, giving me insight into the expectations and demands of this environment.

I trained for four years at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC) on their BACP Accredited, Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling, which included requirements to be in weekly personal therapy throughout and complete clinical placements. My experience in therapy was a journey of self-discovery, healing and growth, but it certainly wasn't always easy. This helped me understand just how hard it can sometimes feel sitting in the client chair. My placements at Bristol Mind and Bath Spa University gave me a broad range of experience alongside my time volunteering with the Samaritans.
Building on this foundation, I've continued to work with a diverse range of clients and presentations in private practice and am dedicated to continually developing as a practitioner. Outside of the therapy room, one of the things I enjoy most is walking in nature with my dog, where I find joy and a sense of grounded connection.
